The following is an approximate timeline of the events as Demenzia has lived them. Each event also links to the corresponding story, if there is any.
June 29476:
Jen comes back to Omni-1 after having run various infiltration missions in the Neutral and Clan territories for a Grid-Security division of the InternOps. [I had first rolled her as Clan, then decided to reroll two weeks later, since I didn’t know at the time if I’d play her with my Omni BF or not. This is where the ‘underground agent’ bit actually came from.]
Associated stories: nothing in game, but Dreams of Sanity and Hiki-sakareshi mono are a good introduction to the character, even though the latter finds its ending in September/October of the same year.
July 29476:
In Rompa’s, Jen meets Xyrnyx and Jaggors, two Agents working for the SPARTA-S1 InternOps department. A couple of hours later, a GSP Party is held in Rompa’s, and the three employees discuss further amidst the fun.
A few days later, while Jen is in Rompa’s again, she is contacted by Garret “Bonefish” Silvestrini, Director of SPARTA, who offers her a job provided she successfully passes an interview. It seems Xyrnyx has blabbed to him about a certain Fixer.
August 29476:
Jen joins SPARTA as an Intelligence Operative (since that time, everybody has been calling her Jen, rather than Jenae or Demenzia). She especially befriends Xyrnyx and Raquel “Sezmra” Svancara.
Various missions ensue, including a run in Mort with the Agents of SPARTA [and getting killed in PVP due to being teamed with them 75+ people] and a spying mission in Tir to try to get information about the Council of Truth. [One of my best roleplayed missions–we were level 40-something, got our asses handed back to us by the guards, and had fun basically doing nothing but sneaking between houses in Leet form. That was hilarious.]
September 29476:
Bonefish, Sezmra and Psychogirl [at the time a Soldier in SPARTA] capture Elicia “Lillemjau” Washko, a Doctor from the Ancarim Iron Legion Clan. For days, Lillemjau is held prisoner and questioned by Sezmra, Jen, Psychogirl and Malcom “Eternalrebel” Cratty, to no avail. Tired of waiting and knowing well that what is meant to follow won’t give many more results, Jen threatens to drug Lillemjau using a particulary nasty substance inducing very fast symptoms of withdrawal. Evidently, the good Doctor doesn’t appreciate. A few days later, Lillemjau is released by Bonefish, but not before having had her insurance records tampered with, and having been infected with a Capellan bloodworm killing her repeatedly in horrible sufferings. [See Stay Silent and Loyal, Lille’s forum thread about that set of events.]
Sometime during that period, Jen and Malcom meet in Rompa’s and, accidentally finding out that the criminal “Ignis” Wright is there with some goons, they pretend to be a couple in order to discretly spy on them. Our clumsy operatives end up accidentally kissing, which causes some embarrassment. Later on, Malcom invites Jen for a dinner and reveals to her that he cannot forget that kiss, but Jen is very troubled, and repeats that she cannot love him because she’s “not alone”.
October 29476:
Here begins a harsh period for Jen. Unbeknownst to her, Lillemjau has been plotting a mean to ‘give her a lesson’. Aided by the Mocker Trellame, Tommyball of AIL and various Devil Advocate members, she devises a trap that will allow her to lay her hands on Jen. Our poor Fixer is captured, her NCU and programs disabled through an EMP shock, and she is taken by force to an abandoned house in Perpetual Wastelands, where Lillemjau and Tommyball are waiting for her.
Taunted by all the people around her, Jen is injected with a drug created by Lupoh, and isn’t long in feeling its effects. Much to her captors’ surprise, the SPARTA agent that happens to resist them at that moment becomes suddenly much more different in her behaviour. Without warning, Heiji–because it is evidently Heiji in control–manages to burst free and to run away in the desert, hoping that the beacon on Jen’s plane will be able to pick him–them–quickly enough. Unfortunately, caught in a sandstorm and with its pilot weakened by the drug and unable to react, the little Yalmaha crashes somewhere in Mort, leaving Jen’s friends as well as enemies clueless about her whereabouts.
[I had to move houses, I knew I’d be without internet access for 2-3 weeks at least, and therefore I asked Lille’s player if she could help me take my char out of the system for some time. Thank you Lille, because it was funny as hell!]
And this is where Do Fixers Dream of Electric Ghosts? start.
[More to come later on!]
